Annie Valdes

IDEO Design Strategist

Valdes_150x150Annie uses a human-centered, design-based approach to disrupt how people engage with their health. She loves experimenting with new products, services, experiences, and business models to increase access to care, and to drive innovation.

Annie works across the IDEO portfolio of health and wellness projects as a content guide and program lead, and helps teams tackle complex project challenges and explore emerging opportunity spaces. She uses her years of experience as a senior project lead and design researcher to coach clients and teams through fast-paced, hands-on experiments designed to help them launch and learn quickly while limiting risk and investment costs. She enjoys teaching the design thinking process, and often works with startups to help them hone their offerings.

Annie has worked with players across the healthcare ecosystem—from hospital systems, to pharmaceutical and insurance companies, to wellness companies focused on behavior change. She has tackled complex and exciting challenges like patient engagement, workplace wellbeing, and design for aging. Her passions include designing for difficult life transitions, the evolving world of peer-to-peer healthcare, and exploring new models of caregiver support.

Annie holds a BA in Anthropology from Emory University and an MBA in Marketing from Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business.
