My name is Nikki Yates and I’m a senior at Stanford University pursuing bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Drama. Major hobbies of mine include singing, writing, cooking, and playing with my dog Genevieve. I became interested in the idea of total fitness after taking a longevity course with Laura Carstensen during my sophomore year of college. Following the completion of this course, I found myself feeling concerned by the general lack of motivation to exercise and eat right among many Americans. The information exists and it’s out there, but why don’t more people utilize it? Thus, my goal is to find out how to motivate people, especially elderly adults, to keep their minds and bodies fit by talking to experts in the fields of gerontology, nutrition, physical fitness, and others.
